  • Equipment Pilates for rehab, Maintenance, Seniors, Teenagers, Pre and Post Natal or Sports specific Pilates.
  • Max 1 client per Pilates Equipment Studio session
  • Mat Pilates /Classical Yoga Classes (Max 2)

 The Pilates Method

The Pilates Method is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. It is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, after whom it was named. Pilates exercises develop, and train you to use, the most important muscles in your body. The Pilates Method when applied on to your own body will help you move and move well. It is a sequence of exercises meant for your own body and your own movement patterns.

In the Pilates Method, you learn to methodically activate deep stabilization muscles and then, challenge the engagement of these muscles through all your movement. As a beginner, movements are smaller. With regular practise, your own brain adjusts to the new activation patterns and a more stabilized way of moving. Movements then get larger and more challenging as you get stronger.

The Pilates Method, when taught in its genuine form is mindful, is a way of movement that is balanced for your muscles and joints. It is a skill that grows with time and effort. It is a way of moving that can help the rehabilitation of non-acute conditions, prevention of injuries, it is way of movement that builds bone density (good for osteoporosis or spinal conditions), it is a way of movement that improves the way your own body moves.
